SIR TOMMY'S - REGGAE LEGEND

HOWARD MAPP a/k/a Sir Tommy's was born in Jones
Town, Kingston, Jamaica. He spent his earlier years in Maxfiled Ave.

At the early age of 9 whilst living on Brotherton Ave., dances were kept in the yard in where he lived. It was here Sir Tommy's began to imitate the soundmen in that he made his own turntables and used bottle stoppers that were beaten out as vinyls. Each and every time the selector changed his vinyl he did likewise.

In 1971 at the age of 16, Sir Tommy's migrated to the United States with 13 seven inch records in hand. He attended school here in the United States but his love and passion for music was first and foremost.

In 1973, Sir Tommy's was the youngest youth in New York to play and own a sound outright. He played for numerous parties and it was here he kept the reggae flame burning in the five boroughs.

In the 80's numerous artists were on his set such as Mikey Jarrett, Danny Mangaroo, Sammy Levi, Daddy Marcus, Conrad, Scion Success, Louie Rankin, Alton Irie, Nicodemus, Willow Wilson, Briggie, Sammy Dread and Johnny Ringo to name a few. He played at the Galaxy Ballroom, Starlite, Biltmore, Tilden Hall, Trojan, Reggae Lounge and Day Care Center.

In 1985, Sir Tommy's ventured into production work. His first recording was with Trevor Junior, "Crack No Dash", "Cool Profile" and "When Your Are Down". He opened his recording studio in April of 1991 and produced artists like: Little John, Teddy Brown, Pinchers, Lloyd Hemmings, Tony Tuff, Wayne Smith, Philip Frazier, Ansel Meditations, Sugar Minott, Michael Palmer, Tuffiest, Johnny Ringo, Lady V, Lady P and his younger sister K-Vibes. His label has produced many albums thus far: Show Down Vol. 1., Show Down Vol. 2., Party With The Stars, Various Artist Vol. 1., Various Artists Vol . 2., 89 All Stars, Freedom Sound All Star, Best Of The Magnificent Seven, No Stone - Little John, Christmas Season, King Of The Road, 1990's Volume 1, 1990's Volume 2.

Sir Tommy's was honored by Reggae A.M.P.P.S (Artists, Managers, Producers, Promoters & Songwriters) on June 26, 2010 For Distinuguised Services in Reggae Music Industry.

Today, Sir Tommy's is still producing in his studios and has his following when he plays at events in New York.
