ED ROBINSON RELEASES JOHN HOLT TRIBUTE

International recording artist Ed Robinson celebrated the music of legendary crooner John Holt on his latest pop-reggae album, Tribute to John Holt. The album, produced by Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor, premiered on Tuesday, November 11 on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Conceived during a pop-reggae recording session between Robinson and McGregor, Tribute to John Holt represents a modern, mainstream approach to the songs of Holt, who himself personified the mainstream appeal of crossover reggae.
John Holt, who died on October 20, 2014 in London, is considered an important progenitor of the ‘lovers rock’ genre, scoring mainstream radio hits with smooth-groove reggae covers of contemporary love songs – most notably, his rendition of Kris Kristofferson’s Help Me Make It Through The Night, which became a UK Top 10 radio hit in 1973. For Robinson, Tribute to John Holt is greatly influenced by a deep passion to recreate Holt’s positive, melodic vibrations and to popularise Holt’s legacy to a global audience.

EMOTIONAL PROJECT
“I had recorded the single, Let Your Hair Down, with Kemar McGregor, and while we were working on that recording, John Holt passed away,” said Robinson. “Kemar came up with the idea: ‘How would you like to do a tribute song for John Holt?’ We eventually decided to do a full album. The album is very emotional for me, because I’ve spent a lot of my time making songs that uphold the dignity of veteran singers like John Holt, and making sure they get the respect they deserve.”

Decorating McGregor’s lavish bass grooves with sprightly, exuberant vocal inflections, Tribute to John Holt represents Robinson’s emblematic mixture of Holt’s contemporary energy, as well as his heartfelt cultural soul. “I would say the album is very modern,” said Robinson, “It’s a very modern record – a well-produced record in terms of the technology we used – achieving an acoustic sound in a computerised studio. But at the same time, it’s a very emotional record. I meant this album from the bottom of my soul.”

Robinson plans to tour the album during thecoming months, having already secured concert dates in South America, the Caribbean and the North American west coast. When asked about the spiritual message intended by the album, Robinson wants his fans to bask in the beneficent vibrations of Holt’s lyricism, as Robinson once did as a youth listening to Holt’s singles in Jamaica.

“Holt’s music makes me feel like I’m in a good space, it takes me back to a feeling when life was pure,” Robinson said. “The album is going to take listeners to a time when music was telling you that you could be a good person, not just on the outside, but also on the inside. That’s my relation to this – and that’s the emotion I’m trying to stir up in people – that it’s all about love. No matter what the song is about, and no matter what the storyline is, at the end of the day, the story should be about love.”

ED ROBINSON HEADLINED REGGAE TING FESTIVAL AUGUST 2, 2014. He Astounded The Crowd…

Nestled up on a gentle ridge and cradled completely by a range of gorgeous and lush green mountains that reminds some of Jamaica, the mood at the Dairy Field was fill excitement and nostalgic euphoria. The western Catskill Mountains were alive with the sounds of reggae music and flavored with the spicy aroma of Jamaican cuisine on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014. The day started off with radio personality Sir Walford of WCDB 91.9 FM, Albany – NY spinning a lively set of reggae representing the progression of Jamaican music from the ska era. Our fine arts and percussionist friend Tim Touhey of Stanford, New York Art Galleries, started the live segment with a 10 minute congas set. Bombmob Electrodub of Woodstock, New York followed Touhey with a riveting set of progressive heavy-duty dub-style reggae that sounded out of this world in the fresh Catskill Mountains air.

Mark Shine who is pound for pound one of the best entertainers in reggae, followed Bombmob with his progressive ROCSTA brand sound playing tracks like ‘Summer Reggae Party’ and songs from his new album “Metamorphosis.” As the different shades of green leaves in the mountain above the Dairy Field seem to shimmered and dance in the setting golden sun to the drum, bass and rhythmic applications of Mark Shine’s performance, the audience showed appreciation by rocking to the performance.

At 8 p.m. veteran international reggae star Ed Robinson headlined Reggae Ting after a full day of cool music and festivities. And as the sun sets below the mountains and the lights were turned up, Ed Robinson’s electric performance was nothing short of delightful. WOW! Ed took the vibes and mood to a whole other level and engaged the eclectic audience of children to mature adult.

Reggae Ting 2014 marks the second event to be held at the Dairy Field outdoor venue. The first event held at the Dairy Field was Mark Shine’s Rocsta Summer Reggae Party, September 1, 2013. With the success of August 2, 2014 event, the second annual Reggae Ting Festival is on deck for Saturday, August 1, 2014. In summary it was a great day. Festival goers had a great time. One very cool take-away. A couple s howed with a toddler at the entrance. They were told the baby could enter free of charge. The couple insisted and paid for the baby. This speaks volume of the crowd that attended Reggae Ting Festival, 2014.

Upcoming Global Rock Showcase Festival, Saturday September 13, 2015 will be held at the Dairy Field also. Ed Robinson, Mark Shine and Bombmob Electrodub alongside legendary punk-rock-hardcore legend HR (Human Rights) of Bad Brains are among artists and bands that will perform. This Global Rock Showcase event is geared to everyone and definitely to the network of SUNY University students attending colleges Upstate New York. Of course there will be a warming bon fire.

ALKALINE'S WORK PERMIT REVOKED IN ST. KITTS-NEVIS

Law enforcement officials of the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis revoked the work permit granted to the Jamaican deejay to perform in Nevis last Saturday.

In response to the steps taken by the authorities to bar the dancehall deejay, he says he is not deterred by the move as he has gotten accustomed to people being against him.

Alkaline’s presence in the country and his intention to perform at a concert apparently only became an issue when it was brought to the attention of  the Hon. Vance Amory  Primier of Nevis.
The Office of the Premier raised strong objection to Alkaline’s performance claiming the deejay’s content could elicit lewdness.

In his statement the Primier said “the Nevis Island Administration, in Cabinet, has taken a decision not to support grant of permission, to allow this artiste to perform here in Nevis on the grounds that the performance could elicit lewdness and lyrics which may further aggravate the already fragile social environment and the very impressionable young people about whom we are very concerned.”

Recently,  Tommy Lee Sparta was deported from the island of Dominica because of what they call his demonic persona. The deejay is suing the government of Dominica.

We have been present at all concert performances presented so far, as we are responsible for the supervision of all aspects of the artists' production, presentation and security on tour. It has come to our attention that a false report is being circulated by Platinum Camp by way of an email under the name of the Platinum Camp CEO. This false report includes a story alleging that Chronixx and members of his team were beaten by security personnel after their performance at La Cigale in Paris on April 6, following an alleged earlier altercation between the team members and the security providers for the show.
