THE LATE BIM SHERMAN - BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Roots singer/songwriter Bim Sherman known as reggae's sweetest voice, also known as Jarrett Tomlinson, Jarrett Vincent, Lloyd Vincent, J.L. Vincent, Bim Shieman, and Lloyd Tomlinson was born on the island of Jamaica in 1952.
Sherman is known as an unsung hero who struggled in Jamaica as a singer. He was known to have worked with producers Dudley Swabey, Prince Far I, Jah Lloyd aka Jah Lion and Jah Woosh. It is also said that his work were also self financed.
In the mid 70's Sherman moved to London and was affiliated with On-U Sound, New Age Steppers, Ari Up formerly of The Slits, Singer And Players with Congo Ashanti R and the late Prince Far-I, Dub Syndicate and Justice League of Zion.
Sherman's work was heavily influenced from all around world notable India. His classic 70s roots tunes were re-recorded in India alongside an orchestra in Bombay. This afforded him the opportunity to an entire new audience and fan base.
As Sherman and work started to emerge he was diagnosed with cancer. A few weeks later he passed on November 17 2000. So on this day the reggae fraternity should take time out to remember Reggae's Sweetest Voice the late Bim Sherman.
