I complied this list, as I want everyone to digest what has happened in this industry. Ask yourselves do we have problems, if so what, who and why. Do we need solutions? if so do you have solutions? A lot of the important stuff was lost. I am sure some of the few good things that are listed did not stand out during the year for you.
From this compilation, I see that a lot of focus was placed on artists personal lives and hype. (Very unnecessary, where is the progress. Did reggae make any money from all of this) In return, the international press had field day, as they were given a lot of ammunition. BOOM!

Look at history, it shows us what they do to our leaders. He was a healthy man who exercised regularly. I would love to believe that he died of natural causes, but history won't allow me to. JUNIE RANKS IS TAKING BACK THE DANCEHALL
Dec. 5, 2010 ...New York: Junie Ranks made her mark in the dance hall years ago. After recording her first single “Counteraction” for Techniques on the stalag riddim, she gained many hit singles like “Gimmie Di Buddy”, “ Cry Fe Me Boops”, “Big and Ready” and “Dibby Dibby Man”. During the days of real dancehall music she was one of the top female dee-jays and received the Father Bins award for Female Dee Jay of the Year in 1989.
Junie has recorded for some of the top producers in the business such as King Jammys, Steelie, Bunny Lee, Patrick Roberts, Black Scorpio and the late King Tubbys. She also collaborated with Penthouse records on several occasions at the end of the 80s.
Recently she went back into the studio with Brooklyn based reggae singer, songwriter and producer Ed Robinson at E2 Recordings, Inc., a/k/a E2 Studios to record her new song titled "Bring Back The Love".
R1: Why haven't we seen much of you on the music scene?
JR: The dancehall music that was coming out was no longer challenging to me. I moved out of New York, went back to school, work and lived my life outside of the music.
R1: Did your heart or inner voice ever bother you about going back into music?
JR: Many times. So did fellow artists, producers and fans. They would not allow me to forget music and constantly nagged me to get back into it.
R1: What's your take on the music and the music business today?
JR: I am disgusted by what I am reading, seeing and hearing. I also detest the disrespect for the women and veterans in this business. I want to see change.
R1: What was the breaking point for your return?
JR: For a long time now, I wanted to pen lyrics to what was and is happening in our music today. Then finally, my inspiration to write "Bring Back The Love" and go into the studio to record it was brought upon by the song "Our Heroes" by Ed Robinson. I wanted to write how I and many of my fans felt back then and now. "Bring Back The Love" is a tribute to the days of real dancehall music and the artists who gave dancehall fans what they wanted, which was great music/lyrics and to have a nice time. I am confident that all real Reggae/Dancehall lovers will be able to reminisce, feel, love and enjoy "Bring Back The Love" when they listen to it because in these times we need just that.
R1: When will the single be available?
JR: The single will be available in two weeks.
R1: What would you like to say to your fans, music lovers and the youth?
JR: First to my fans. Thanks for your support and encouragement throughout the years and I do hope you all enjoy this song. I look forward to your continued support and honesty. To music lovers, please continue to support real music and buy the real thing, no boot leg. The Youth, eduction, education, education I cannot say it enough.
Junie Ranks will be at the Bee Hive Lounge, 990 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, NY making a guest appearance for Caribbean Billboard Magazine's 17th Anniversary celebration on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. That same night she will be filming her video.

GREGORY ISAACS FOUNDATION
The Cool Ruler, the late Gregory Isaacs is gone but will never be forgotten. A foundation to assist charitable organisations is in the making in honour of late reggae crooner, Gregory Isaacs.
Isaacs widow June Isaacs last Friday handed over the offerings collected at the late reggae star funeral service on November 20, to the Walker’s Place of Safety for children in Jamaica.
The Cool Ruler got involved with this institution while he was alive to assist the children who have been indentified as being at risk.
The Walkers Place of Safety is a home for orphans, abandoned and mentally challenged children and was founded in 1972 by the late Ivy Walker.
JUNIOR GONG IN TRINIDAD
Grammy Award-winner and son of reggae-icon the Hon. Robert Nesta Marley, Damian "Junior Gong" Marley, arrived in Trinidad yesterday for tonight's "Evolution of Sound" concert, scheduled to take place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Marley said, "We're happy to be back in Trinidad and looking forward to the show tomorrow (today) for sure."
US rapper, Nasir "Nas" Jones, had cleared customs before Marley and his party and left the airport for the hotel. The third headline act, Jamaican singer Siccature "Jah Cure" Alcock, arrived in Trinidad on Thursday.
Marley, Alcock and chutney soca monarch, Ravi B, are scheduled to receive awards for their contributions to Caribbean culture from the promoters of this event and designated Members of Parliament at tonight's concert, which is expected to start around 9 p.m.

GYPTIAN SEVERELY DEHYDRATED FROM HECTIC TOUR
The following release was issued by the management team of leading dancehall/reggae singjay, Gyptian, this morning:
Because of all the rumors and questions that have been floating around the health of Reggae Star Gyptian, Jus1 production is issuing this Press Release with a statement from Gyptian.
Windel (Gyptian) Edwards has recently completed a hectic 60 day tour of Europe and Africa. Yesterday he was diagnosed as being severely dehydrated.
After winning the British MOBO award, the US Soul train award, and getting his latest hit single “Nah Let Go” added into rotation on several major stations worldwide, there was a surge in promotional and PR work that had to be incorporated into the tour.
Gyptian completed his last show in Tanzania, Africa and returned to NYC earlier this week to do 2 shows for which he was scheduled. Gyptian indicated that he was feeling faint and he was taken to a NYC hospital where he was diagnosed as being dehydrated; a decision was made to cancel the 2 shows, but he insisted on completing his obligations for the sake of his fans.
Upon completion of his last performance on Thursday night [December 2], he again indicated feeling faint with severe stomach cramps and was rushed to the emergency room in NYC. the Doctor prescribed some medication and instructed him again to rest and rehydrate as he was now severely dehydrated.
A decision was then made by his management team that in the best interest of the artist, and against his will, he will be returning home to consult with his personal physician and dietitian. He will then rest for a few days, so that he can return to work in peak health and continue to take his music to his fans all over the world.
Gyptian wants his fans to understand that in order to achieve the level of success his fans have given him, it requires him to keep up a certain work etiquette that will sometimes pushes the boundaries of his physical health because he appreciates his fans and hates to disappoint them.
“To my fans in Barbados, I apologize profusely and I am currently renegotiating a date with the promoters to complete my obligations and please my fans. There is no Gyptian without my fans and I am very grateful for all the concern that has been shown but I assure everyone that I will be back to work for all of you as soon as I am back in peak form because as me seh, Me Nah Let Go.”

BUJU TO PERFORM IN MIAMI JANUARY 16TH
Buju Banton won an appeal against an order which denied him the right to perform at a concert in Miami.
On November 23, Buju had applied for permission to perform at the concert but his motion was dismissed by United States Judge Anthony Porcelli on the grounds that he was a flight risk.
However, on Wednesday Judge James Moody cited that the issue had been already addressed when Buju was released on bail in October.
The concert 'Before The Dawn' will be held at the Bay Front Ampitheatre in downtown, Miami.

ED ROBINSON PAYS TRIBUTE AGAIN
Yesterday, email blasts, blogs and radios waves went wild streaming and playing another tribute by Ed Robinson. This time Ed Robinson placed a spin on his number one hit song "Our Heroes" by paying tribute to sounds.
In speaking with Robinson he said that he was thinking about doing this for sometime. He explained that he had a request from a sound man (Adrian Lodge) who lives in Bermuda. Adrian requested it for his sound site and he went through with it, not knowing that it would have made such an impact. Robinson further stated that he first learned of it been public was when he went to his email and face book in box, he saw emails from various people, fans, sounds thanking him for mentioning their names in the song, as well as requests by radio jocks for the mp3 and sound wanting dubplates. Robinson says he is humbled by the outpouring of love and appreciation that he is receiving for both songs and gives much thanks to radio jocks, print media and fans.

Robinson says he is humbled by the outpouring of love and appreciation that he is receiving for both songs and gives much thanks to radio jocks, print media and fans.

ROBINSON SALUTES VETERAN JAMAICAN ARTISTS
Last evening was the release of Ed Robinson's single and video "Our Heroes" this was held at the Retro Lounge in Freeport, New York. A throng of supporters and fans came out for the event.
Robinson took to the stage outfitted in Riddim Driven "Champion Sound" gear singing one of his hit tunes "Ain't That Lovin you" to which he had the crowd rocking then he slid into another one of his popular songs "No More Mr. Lonely". Thereafter he paid a vocal tribute to the late veteran singer Gregory Isaacs "Love is Over Due" and the medley "Rumours" When Robinson touched "Our Heroes" which has been number 1 in the New York singles chart for the past two weeks the audience was locked into the tune, as it was bringing back much memories.
FRANKIE PAUL & ED
Fans and supporters alike were in for a surprise in which the event was not only one to celebrate the release of Robinson's song and video but to celebrate the life and work of artists past and present who paved the way for today's artists. In so doing, Robinson acknowledged some more of his heroes and friends in the business - Michael Palmer, Big Youth, Frankie Paul, Wayne "Sleng Teng" Smith, Mikey Jarrett, Johnny Osbourne, Ansel Meditations and Carrott Jarrett formerly of Third World. Performances also came from future artists such as Ragga Lox and Lupa. After each performance roars of approval were given and encores were gained from the appreciative crowd, as the seasoned artists did not disappoint. They were all backed by Derrick Barnet and the Statement Band. Dwayne "DJ Bandit" Jones was the Master of Ceremonies.
ED & BIG YOUTH
A lot of support from the reggae fraternity was seen, artists like Tanya Mullins, who flew in from Canada, Jenn Liza formerly known as Jennie B, Glen Washington, Splicerr, Stephen Souza, Tilly Beng, Kappa Shanti, Junior Dread, Devon Jorge, Humbleton, Marcia Davis, Dani J, Shango Trex, Scepta, Dan Wallace, Yanks, Benny Boy, the Dancemaster, bassey, Bubbles, band leader, engineer, Courtney Panton and his sons New Kingston Band.
Spotted in the audience having fun were Pat Chin Owner and co-founder of VP Records, Chris Chin VP Records, Clive Chin VP Records/North Parade, VP Staff, VP Miss Jamaica, Jim Vanwestering, Luciana Manerie of Manmen Productions, Delbert Rose DelRose Productions, Junior Forbes Founder Caribbean Cultural Conference, Carlyle McKetty, Howard “Junior Radixxx”, Judith Kitson, Sharon Gordon, Sheron Hamilton-Pearson, Splicerr, e2onair presenters, veteran soundman Downbeat, DJ Roy, Louie Grant, Steve Williams a/k/a Yellow of Irie Jam, Kay Star, Transcontinental Shippers CEO Bob deSouza, RTN Richard Dawes, Erwine Sinclair, Shams Entertainment, Tripple Five, Lion TV, Joanne "Blackpoet" Stephens, All Black Radio, Lanny G, Steve McDermott of McD TV, Shay, Black Ice TV, Marjorie Flash and Big Sat of On Top of the Mountain Roots.
An especially touching moment occurred when Robinson paid tribute to Pat Chin Owner and co-founder of VP Records for establishing a great reggae empire, along with her stance in wanting a betterment for the product. He also thanked Carlyle McKetty and Sharon Gordon of TSO Productions/CPR for bringing a high class show to New York last weekend which comprised of the Real Reggae Veterans and their continued support in preserving reggae music.

VP TO RELEASE A DENNIS BROWN BOX SET
VP will be releasing a three-disc compilation of the late Dennis Brown's hit singles. The Crown Prince of Reggae - Singles (1972-1985), will be reissued by 17 North Parade, a VP Records imprint, on November 16.
The collection featuring anthems such as Revolution and Promised Land to lesser-known works like Satisfaction Feeling and the gritty musical ultimatum Praise Without Raise.
The bonus DVD sees Dennis Brown live in concert, backed by Lloyd Parks and We the People Band, in a 1979 performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival and The Swiss Music Festival. It also includes liner notes from journalist Carter Van Pelt, in a fitting tribute to this iconic artist and more.
BUJU BANTON'S BAIL AND STIPULATIONS
BUJU BANTON's motion for bail was approved on Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Sam M Gibbons Federal Court in the United States. He is still not in the clear as his lawyer will now have to seek bond in the immigration court to prevent his deportation to Jamaica.
To make bail, Banton would have to post $250,000 — secured by the equity in a friend's house — wear an electronic monitor and undergo drug testing.
Banton also would have to pay for around-the-clock security, probably off-duty sheriff's deputies, to watch his every move.
It is not clear when recording reggae artiste, Buju Banton, will be released from jail. If Buju's attorney manages to make the said arrangements, the US government still could request another hearing before he is released.
